Benefits to Barrie
Park Place is a great development for the Barrie community. It will enhance tourism, build relationships with existing Barrie organizations, bring thousands of new permanent jobs, help improve south-end traffic and generate millions of dollars in new tax revenue for the City.
- The number one tourist destination in Canada is the West Edmonton Mall and in Ontario it is the Eaton Centre. In addition, in the U.S., "lifestyle" centres are major tourist draws. The unique shopping, entertainment, dining and accommodation offerings at Park Place will bring thousands of new visitors to this community.
- More than 5,000 new permanent jobs
will be created. There will be opportunities suited for professional, manufacturing, retail or hospitality skills in a full-time or part-time capacity.
- Park Place will generate over $145 Million of employment income into the Barrie economy each year.
- Park Place will generate close to $16 million in levies and fees payable by the developer to the City so the City can make infrastructure improvements.
- Park Place will contribute financially and be the catalyst for much needed traffic improvements in the south end.
- Once complete, Park Place will contribute approximately $10 million dollars every year to the municipal tax base. This will increase Barrie’s non-residential revenue stream by 22 per cent.
- Park Place has and will continue to work hard on developing relationships with Barrie organizations so that everyone benefits. We are working with organizations like Talk Is Free Theatre, Georgian College, Tourism Barrie, the Barrie Public Library System,
Greater Barrie Chamber of Commerce,
Royal Victoria Hospital, etc.
Park Place is for the entire community. Whether it is job opportunities, new revenue for the city, great amenities for everyone’s pleasure, increased tourists or traffic improvements - Barrie benefits from Park Place.
“Weather has had very little impact on our business…we have over 20 million visitors a year.”
