Environment
Park Place is an environmentally-friendly development that has been positively reviewed by the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority.
- Park Place is prepared to
dedicate
approximately 10 per cent (20 acres) of its property to the City. This property is to remain environmentally protected, with leisure uses for the community.
- Approximately five per cent of the land is planned to be dedicated to storm ponds – for effective storm water management.
- Park Place will implement an innovative and costly roof top retention and diversion system so that rainwater effectively recharges the cold-water aquifers on the property – it is the first time in Ontario that such a system will be used in such a large-scale facility.
- The Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority has reviewed Park Place’s development plan and written a letter to the City of Barrie indicating they approve of the plan from an environmental perspective.
The environment was an important consideration when planning for this development and that is why local environmental groups are supportive of the development plans.
“What a relief to find a developer
that understands that the old style, "destroy and build," development
only costs more in the long run. I hope to make Barrie my home some day
and would like a place to live where I can reduce my environmental
footprint on a daily basis. Park Place Development is a wonderful
example of environmentally responsible planning. And, it will succeed,
as many other similar developments like it have here in Oregon and
throughout Canada. Keep up the good work!”
