Revenue & Taxes
Park Place will provide the City of Barrie with both immediate and sustained sources of revenue to fund worthy projects and help keep residential taxes low.
- Upon approval, Park Place will generate $16 million in development charge fees, which can be used to make infrastructure improvements in the south end.
In addition, Park Place has made a financial commitment to assist with traffic improvements needed to accommodate the development.
- Once developed, Park Place will contribute approximately $10 million each year to the municipal tax base. This will increase Barrie’s non-residential revenue stream by 22 per cent.
- With such an increase in non-residential revenues homeowner taxes will be subsidised, keeping them lower than they might otherwise be.
The Park Place development will generate significant tax revenue for the City of Barrie – this revenue will benefit the entire community.
“I think it is going to provide great tax based revenues for the City of Barrie that will inevitably offset some of the costs our residents currently pay.”
